Unmarked Smear Glaed Stoneware Jug Pitcher From The Death Of Abel There are two holes at the top of the rim, which were created before firing, and some Staffordshire potter from around 1850 would have had lids and others didn't. I don't think this one ever had a lid since there are no evidence of wear from a lid around the rim. There is some glae crackling on the inside, and the spout's inside appears to have been repaired, which I believe ma have been done.
